Urban Dance was founded by Yalta Pons in 1992. Yalta
is a graduate in Dance & Creative art and has
professional experience as a performer and choreographer
both locally and abroad.
For over 10 years now, Urban Dance
has compiled an exhaustive portfolio of appearances
and original productions with a unique approach, sometimes
described as “radical” but which soon
became accepted and popular.
Directors Yalta Pons and Darion Figueredo
state that their aim is “to encourage young
people (and the not so young) to learn, have fun,
socialise and develop themselves as individuals. The
performing and creative arts helps in building confidence,
courage, discipline and allows you to be creative.
Challenging you physically and mentally offering young
people another perspective on the opportunities available
to them as future careers.”
Urban Dance mostly performs in Gibraltar
where it is committed to youth & community work
and participates in the Cavalcade, National Fair,
Summer Nights, Special Youth and Community projects
amongst many others.
Urban Dance holds dance classes to
cater for the different tastes and ages. For further
