TABLITA : Local name for the game of LUDO in Spain it is called PARCHIS.

TABLON : "COJER UN TABLON". Refers to getting quite drank. TABLON is a BIG PLANK OF WOOD in Spanish.

TAIGA : From the English TARGET. Usually refers to the Naval Target Boat which was "EL BARQUITO DEL TAIGA".

TAJA : To get drunk. TAJADA means a SLICE in English.

TANA : From the Italian TANA which means DEN. "TENGO UNA TANITA" means "I HAVE A NICE HIDEOUT".

TANGAI : "SE ARMO UN TANGAI" means "THERE WAS A BIG FIGHT". Origin could be Andalusian.

TAPULIN or TAPOLIN or TARPOLIN : From the English TARPAULIN in Spanish it is called LONA.

TEATRO DE OPERACIONES : Should be OPERATING THEATRE or QUIROFANO.

TENKIU : From the English THANK YOU.

TEREJINGO : Bad Spanish for TEJERINGO. This is another name for the ever popular CHURROS in English they are FRITTERS. TEJERINGO comes from TEJER to WEAVE this confoms with the way they are made, like a Spider spinning its web.

TISHE : From the English TEACHER the Spanish is MAESTRO or PROFESOR. EL TISHE is a MALE TEACHER and LA TISHA is a FEMALE TEACHER.

TIFI: From the English MILITARY ARTIFICER in Spanish it would be ARTIFICE. "HAY QUE LLAMAR AL TIFI" "WE HAVE TO CALL THE TIFI".

TIMBLE : Bad Spanish for TIMBRE which is DOORBELL in Spanish. Sometimes also wrongly said "TOCA LA CAMPANA" "RING THE BELL". BELL like in a Church.

TIPA : Bad English for TEAPOT the Spanish is TETERA.

TIQUETE : Wrong word for TICKET which in Spanish should be BILLETE or TIQUE.

TRAITE or TRAETE : Bad Spanish for TRAE, TRAIGA or TRAIGASE which means TO BRING.

TRAPELO or TRASPELO : Bad Spanish for ESTRAPERLO which is the BLACK MARKET. However it is also used to mean CONTRABAND.

TRIKITRAKE or TRIQUITRAQUE : Name for any kind of small explosive caps or fireworks. The Spanish for fireworks is FUEGOS ARTIFICIALES. BANGERS are called PETARDOS. The origin of this word could come from LA TRACA which is a long series of bangers which are let off at Festivities in Spain, giving the similar effects as a Machine Gun.

TROTES : Name given to the hobnailed Army Boots. TROTE is Spanish for TROT.

TRUCO : From the English TRUCK. TRUCOS were Mule drawn TRUCK WAGONS which were used in Gibraltar before the Petrol Engine made it's appearance. The most renowned of these were the R. A.O.C. Transport Section who had their Yard and Stables opposite F.H.Q. They were known locally as LOS CARRETEROS DEL REY which means THE KING'S TRUCKERS. CARRETA is Spanish for TRUCK. The Mules that pulled these Trucks also had their share of the local folklore as LAS MULAS DEL PATIO REY i.e., THE MULES FROM THE KING'S YARD. To be called UN MULO DEL PATIO REY was no great compliment since it meant BEING A STUPID IDIOT.

TRUPA : Bad Engiish for a TROOPER being a Troop carrying Ship.

TRUQUI or TRIQUI : From the English TRICK and the Spanish TRUCO.

TUFO : Wrong Spanish word to define the WAVING of the hair at the forehead which should be ONDA. TUFO means CURL which is also RIZO in Spanish. TUFOS came into fashion during the Rock and Roll Teddy Boy era.

TURCA : "COGER UNA TURCA" means to GET DRUNK. Origin unknown.
